I know I won't be voting November, and my birthday is in October so it would be right on time too! I'm not really politically informed and I don't like to be. I only have my morals, but sometimes morals doesn't equate to good politics and the good of the country. I dunno! I wish there were a way in politics to make everyone happy but there sure isn't.
I dont think voting shoud be mandatory, however honesty in political ads should be. People dont always vote based on the facts but rather how they feel a candidate will do in office. Furthermore, when people do vote its based on the info presented in those obnoxious ads. Politicians should not be allowed to skew the facts in a bised manner to trick the voters. People that choos not to vote do so because they dont know how to seperate fact from fiction. Voting for a candidate based on falicies is just as bad as not voting at all. I wont be voting in the November election as Im not in my home state of Philadelphia and I know very little about voting in other states and such. Its something I'll have to look into.
I do not think that voting should be mandatory. I know from first has that a lot of people do not vote. I have ran a voting place before, and only a little more then half of the people in that area actually came and voted. However, if they made voting mandatory, they claim that the picks would be more accurate. I do not agree with that statement. If they make voting mandatory, there are many people out there who are uneducated about the people on the ballet and when they get to the ballet, they just bubble in some random people. Yes, if it is mandatory, it would force some people to get educated about the ballet. But it will not make everyone. A lot of people are just lazy. I am not sure if I will be voting in this coming election or not.
I did vote back at the presidential election, and I also do not think that voting should be mandatory. Forcing people to vote wouldn't be good because everyone that doesn't know anything about politics would be forced to guess on who they want in office. No matter what the people who actually care will make an educated vote and the people that are lazy wont look into it and wont vote.
I do not think that voting should be mandatory. People should not be forced to vote just because there are people in the world who do not fully understand all there is to politics. One of the main reasons I think that it should not be mandatory is the fact that a majority of the political adds that come around during election are not all 100% true. How can people be forced to do something if all the know about it is a lie. Honestly, in November I will most likely not be voting, and I'm glad I'm not being forced to do something I am not yet ready to do.
I do not believe that voting should be mandatory. It might make a few more people actually read up on what is happening in the government, but for those newly-aged voters, they could care less and might just do the whole eenie meenie miney moe thing on the voting sheet. Personally I would like to vote because it would make me have to learn about our government that is, according to lots of posts on the internet, stupid and run by an idiot. I want to know why people think that and be able to form my own opinion on whether or not i think that the elected people are 'idiots' or not. As said in the article, people have the liberty to vote or not, it is a right that most citizens do not take advantage of. I believe that if you are working and/or need to support a family, you should vote and keep tabs on the government so you know what advantages/disadvantages you have as a citizen.
I do not believe that voting should be madatory because some people just dont care and they wont when they vote they would just pick one because they have to. I want to vote because i have always watched and listened to all the things involved in the elections and have always wanted to vote. I think for me voting would mean i get to have a say but some people would rather not have a say. I have also been interested in the government so for me voting is something i will be doing this year. i do not believe it shouled be mandatory but i do get annoyed when someone did not vote and they complain about the person that did get elected that just annoys me.
Voting should definitely stay optional. People who currently do not vote don't care enough to make an informed decision when voting. They would vote for whoever screamed the loudest and aired the most TV and social network ads. A better plan to improve voting is to make voters pass a basic logic and current events test. Stupid people voting leads to stupid people elected. We've had either a really stupid or evil president for 4.75 years, and the country is doing very poorly. The recession still isn't truly over, we have a health care plan that has little to do with health and nothing to do with care, and the national debt has doubled. The president is involved with numerous scandals (any one of which would cause a decent man to resign) and refuses to negotiate or make any concessions to end the partial government shutdown. His approval rating is the lowest of any president in recent memory. This and worse is what is in store if all eligible voters are forced to vote.

ReplyDeleteI agree with the ads not being completely true. Unfortunately, they are advertising and they 'twist' the truth more than they should.
