ReplyDeleteYa'll got some true facts here but shoot I could say something about the topic. I love volunteering sincerely for the warm fuzzy feeling I get. Like okay I've volunteered at the VA Hospital in Detroit and even the smallest thank you is like AAAA FUZZY FEELINGS INSIDE. I just think it's great that more people are starting to volunteer out of the goodness of their hearts (or maybe their mom made them do it, I dunno).
Deletevolunteering is a great way to make you appreciate your life more whether you are rebuilding someones home or simple sorting cans. It always gives you that felling of accomplishment. Also while volunteering you can meet some very interesting people and make new connections. I personally like volunteering to see the smiles on peoples faces and the gratitude that they show you. It is good to see that people are volunteering more and the only fact that really surprised me was that parents volunteered more that non parents. I would have thought that with all the service hours teens are forced to complete for school that non parents would have completed more hours.
ReplyDeleteIn high school I volunteered a lot and I loved it. When I volunteer I always feel good inside after I am done. I would agree with the article when they say that parents volunteered more than non parents. In my experiences when kids volunteer their parents become more involved with their children and what they are doing.
ReplyDeleteThe information presented does not change my views on our service project. The statistics on how many and what kind of people do volunteer work are not relevant to me. I'm just going to go to the wildlife refuge and do something helpful.
ReplyDeleteI love volunteering, while in Germany I participated in project compassion where I was able to help rebuild infrastructure in a gypsy village in Romania. In a biology class I travelled to England and performed an outdoor lab in a river where I classified the species that live within the river. This wildlife refuge project will be a great experience to everyone.
ReplyDeleteAfter reading this article it takes me back to all of the memories I have dealing with volunteering. I have done a good amount of volunteering and service projects. I am looking forward to going to wildlife refuge to put forth a helping hand. I'm a strong believer that actions speak louder than words, and I feel that is why I love volunteering. I know that it may not seem like a big deal to me, but the people you can help often think its the world. Its great to give back and I think everyone should
ReplyDeleteThe article really did not change my view on college students volunteering since it did not touch on that extensively, but it was reassuring to know that more and more people are setting aside time to volunteer. I personally volunteer as a dog walker at the Huron Valley Humane Society which is a non-profit, volunteer based animal shelter. Around 700 people are regular volunteers and it is evident, due to the condition of the shelter and care of the animals, that volunteers are priceless. I am excited to go to the Detroit International Wildlife Refuge because I know just how helpful it is to volunteer and make the world a better place.
